I work mainly through the media of silkscreen printing, creating richly coloured and textured small edition and unique prints and mixed media works on paper. Recently I have started to create work combining silkscreen and painting, resulting in a more painterly and expressive range of marks.

My work explores the interaction of abstract shapes and colour relationships, contrasting controlled, regular elements of structure with looser and more irrational mark making. My inspiration is largely derived from my travels, in particular to India and the Greek island of Andros. My work contains elements from observation mixed with my own personal responses to create abstract compositions.

Having been trained in textiles, experimentation with colour, shape and texture is something which comes naturally. I often combine print and collage, and also often include the use of text. Silkscreen printing has been my main form of expression for many years, and has allowed me to develop my distinctive style which involves over printing areas of flat colour with layers of textures and coloured marks

Bold and expressive colour combinations and the visual effects of colours very close in tone have always excited me. I am fascinated by the ways in which colour can be used to define pictorial depth, to create mood and evoke emotion. My 'Indian' series of work was initially inspired by the vibrant cities of Rajasthan: alleyways teeming with life and colour; glimpses of brilliantly coloured saris. I have expressed my impressions in abstract form, contrasting colour against colour.
